I cannot record a message on SnapGenie! Is there a step I am missing? I am trying to call on my cell phone rather than a land line, does that make a difference? I really need to send my message today, can someone give me some assistance ASAP? Thank you!

At the risk of joining the "pile on," I, too, dislike the new layout. The justification provided for the change was to give the page a cleaner look, but I think the opposite has happened. I've worked for many years in graphic design in the publication industry, and weighting gray type on one side of a page as we now see in 2.0 homepages of myfamily.com is considered a major visual no-no. What you had previously -- providing a graphic element in the center of the page to separate gray (type) elements -- was quite attractive for the 2.0 module. The only drawback to that template was that horizontal photos didn't stand out like vertical photos did; the verticals could run very deep, thereby coming off as quite visually dramatic. I run four myfamily.com sites on 2.0, and one on the original site, and the one thing I still enjoy about the original site is the administrator's abiility to create a mutli-photo homepage, which I exploit quite often at the original site with every new batch of pictures of family birthdays, Christmases and other get-togethers. My immediate family truly enjoys that aspect of the site. So if myfamily.com is going to be giving administrators of 2.0 sites some flexibility in the functionality of the covers -- such as template options -- I'm all in favor of that!

Please make it possible to integrate existing content from ancestry.com into myfamily.com, I won't host two equal trees on ancestry.com and the genealogy features are much more better on ancestry.com than on myfamily.com. I will invite about 50 people from my family if this feature has been added - other languages would be cool either, but the tree feature is the most important for me.

Thanks, dineniso

When will it be possible to integrate my ancestry-tree into myfamily? Ancestry is far more able to reach the requirements of real genealogy, so this is the next step, logically - and please do it quickly, I want to invite my family (about 50 members!), but only if this feature is available...

Ignore my previous response above. I realized that one of my family members selected the option of posting the image on the Home Page! I fixed it, sorry.

Since the release, the feature photo on the Home, which is supposed to automatically change/circulate, has not changed. It appears to have grabbed the last photo that was uploaded just before the release occurred and it is now fixed on the Home page. I have submitted this as an issue and received the following email response from myfamily.com... If this is a beta/test site why am I being charged monthly to subscribe to it? This is crazy. Is this code tested before it is released or is it up to the subscribers? if so, then the bugs should be resolved in a more timely manner!

Dear Member,

We appreciate your message.

We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that this may be causing on the website. We are aware of the problems and are experiencing some of these issues as we update the site. It should be working fine again once the update is complete.

Please note that the new site is currently a beta, or test, site. This gives us a way to try out new features we’ve been working on without changing the current MyFamily.com site. The beta site doesn’t yet have all the features we offer on the current site, but we’re working on adding your favorite features to the new beta site over the coming months. We appreciate your patience while we work to bring more features to the Beta site.

If there is anything else with which we might assist you, please let us know.

Yeah, the new design seems to be broken. I like having the Caption displayed for the Featured Photograph; but, the caption text often overlaps not only the picture itself, but also down onto the Member List. Also, I have had difficulty with uploading new pictures ever since this new design was implemented: When I upload a new picture into an existing Album, the picture is nowhere to be found, and the recent events list says that I have uploaded a new Album. Please fix!

Hi SherryS,

You mentioned bios. A while back, on one of my free sites, I started a discussion titled "Member Bios," making mine the first bio in the discussion. I requested that everyone (who was interested) go ahead and follow my lead by adding their bio to the discussion. I added my photo next to my bio information in the discussion, and others did the same or asked me to do it for them. This way, all the bios are in one place in a discussion. I then added a link to that discussion within my Welcome Message area titled, "Click here for Member Bios." Now, when Members click on that link on the Home Page, it takes them right to that bio discussion.
